Midweek (Tue–Wed) in Jan–March and late Oct–Nov. Beach cities drop 30-45%. San Francisco is cheapest in December and August. Set alerts for flash sales on Sunday nights.
What are resort fees and how to avoid surprises? +
Resort fees ($25–$65) cover pool, Wi-Fi, gym. We include them in every price shown. Tip: boutique inns and motels in Palm Springs and Big Sur often have $0 fees.
Which area is best for first-timers in LA? +
Santa Monica for beach + metro to downtown, West Hollywood for nightlife, Downtown for budget towers. Avoid booking near LAX unless you have an early flight.
